Congratulations to our Charleston Dragonboaters and to our own Dr. Andrew McMarlin for winning five (FIVE!!) gold medals at the 2022 International Dragon Boat Federation Club Crew World Championships!

Dr. McMarlin is the US team physician for the World Nations Cup racing held in odd numbered years. During even-numbered years the World Club Crew championships take place and the top clubs from each country around the world meet up to race in all categories ranging from Premier/open to over 40, over 50, over 60 and over 70 year-old boats along with para-crews and breast cancer survivor crews. This year‘s World Championships were held in warm and sunny Sarasota, Florida, with Dr. McMarlin‘s club -the Philadelphia Dragonboat Association- winning gold medals in five of the 12 events (along with one bronze).

The next big event for dragonboating will be the World Nations Cup World Championships to be held in Pattaya, Thailand, in 2023.
